Stuart Ford (film producer)


Stuart Ford is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of IM Global, which launched in 2007 and has since risen to become one of Hollywood's leading independent production, financing, international sales and distribution companies. The company is based in Los Angeles and has offices in New York, London, Beijing, Shanghai, Mumbai, Munich and Mexico City. Stuart Ford is based in Los Angeles.

In 2015 Ford and IM Global were jointly awarded the annual Achievement in International Film Award by Variety. Stuart Ford is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.

Prior to launching IM Global, Ford was a long serving executive at Miramax Films in New York where, in various executive capacities he was involved in the acquisition and/or production of numerous Academy Award recognized films including Shakespeare in Love, Chicago, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat, Gangs Of New York, Amelie. During this period The Hollywood Reporter listed Ford as one of the top executives in Hollywood under the age of 35.

Born in the UK, Ford was educated at the Liverpool Blue Coat School, and later obtained both a BA and an MA in Law from St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University.

The prolific independent studio operates one of the world’s leading international film, television and music production, sales and distribution platforms, controlling a library of more than 600 films which have collectively grossed more than $6 billion in worldwide box office.

As a company exclusively under Ford’s stewardship, IM Global has produced, financed and/or handled international sales on more than 100 independent feature films which have collectively grossed more than US$2 billion in global box office including commercial powerhouses such as “Paranormal Activity”, “Insidious”, “Sinister”, “Walking With Dinosaurs” and “A Haunted House” and critical successes such as Tom Ford’s “A Single Man”, “Lee Daniels’ The Butler”, Richard Linklater’s “Before Midnight”, Steven Knight’s “Locke” and Don Cheadle’s “Miles Ahead”. Mel Gibson’s “Hacksaw Ridge” and Martin Scorsese’s “Silence”, which Ford executive produced, collectively received seven Academy Award nominations in 2017 with the former winning two Oscars.
