Steven N. Goodman is an American Professor of Medicine and of Health Research and Policy (Epidemiology) at Stanford School of Medicine. He has extensively contributed to statistics and probability analysis within the biosciences, and in 1999 he coined the term "p-value fallacy".
He graduated with an AB (Bachelor of Arts) from Harvard College in 1976, majoring in Biochemistry and Applied Math. He received an MD from New York University in 1981, completed a pediatrics residency at Washington University in St. Lous, qualified as a Pediatrician in 1985, received an MHS, Biostatistics (1987) and a PhD (1989) Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
Co-founder and co-director, along with John Ioannidis, of the Meta-Research Innovation Center at Stanford (METRICS).
He has made numerous contributions to meta analysis. in addition to works on scientific evidence.
