Stephanie Zacharek is the film critic at Time magazine, based in New York City. From 2013 to 2015 she was the principal film critic for The Village Voice. She was a 2015 Pulitzer Prize finalist in criticism.

In the 1990s, she worked for Boston Phoenix and Inc. magazine. Between 1999 and 2010, she was a film critic and a senior writer at Salon.com. She moved to work as chief film critic of Movieline in 2010. However, Movieline laid her off in April 2012 and at the same time eliminated the position of chief critic.

In April 2013, the Voice Media Group hired her as chief film critic of The Village Voice. Along with her various full-time jobs, Zacharek has also been a freelance journalist since 1988 writing for periodical including The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times,Entertainment Weekly, and Rolling Stone, and National Public Radio.

She is a member of the National Society of Film Critics and the New York Film Critics Circle.

In 2010, as part of the Berlinale Talent Campus, Zacharek participated on the panel "Fear Eats the Soul: The State of Film Criticism".
