The State of Wisconsin Investment Board manages approximately "$100 billion in assets, most of which consists of the Wisconsin Retirement System, whose funds provide benefits to more than 588,000 current or former public employees".

In December 2016, it was revealed that employees paid themselves over $11 million in combined bonuses in 2015 when the main funds returns were flat.
