The State Assembly of Mari El (Meadow Mari: Кугыжаныш Погын, Kugyžanyš Pogyn, Russian: Государственное Собрание Республики Марий Эл ) is the legislature of that republic. It succeeded the Supreme Council and comprises 67 deputies elected for a period of four years. Fifty of them are elected from single-member constituencies from an equal number of voters, while seventeen are elected on basis of one deputy from each district and republican city.
The State Assembly approves ministers, who are nominated by the republic's President.
The presiding officer is the Chairman of the State Assembly.
