Stardust is a 2007 romantic fantasy adventure film directed by Matthew Vaughn and co-written by Vaughn and Jane Goldman based on Neil Gaiman's 1999 novel of the same name. The film features an ensemble cast led by Claire Danes, Charlie Cox, Sienna Miller, Jason Flemyng, Mark Strong, Rupert Everett, Ricky Gervais, Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Peter O'Toole, with narration by Ian McKellen. The film follows a young man, Tristan, who passes through "the wall" and leaves his boring village, Wall, and humdrum life to enter a world of magic and fantasy in the kingdom of Stormhold. He seeks a "fallen star" to impress a woman but finds the star to be another woman, named Yvaine. Tristan's quest is to bring Yvaine to Wall, while she herself is pursued by a witch who wants to eat her heart and by princes seeking a gem in her possession that would make them king. Tristan ultimately finds he belongs in Stormhold and among the stars himself.
The film was released to positive reviews and grossed $135.6 million on an $88.5 million budget. In 2008, it won the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form.Stardust was released on DVD, Blu-ray, and HD DVD on December 18, 2007, by Paramount Home Entertainment.
