According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km2), all land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 318 people, 110 households, and 80 families residing in the city. The population density was 182.1 people per square mile (70.2/km²). There were 117 housing units at an average density of 67.0 per square mile (25.8/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 70.13% White, 28.62% African American, and 1.26% from two or more races.
There were 110 households out of which 44.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.9% were married couples living together, 18.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.4% were non-families. 23.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.28.
