St. James` School, Binnaguri was founded by the Congregation of The Brothers of St. Patrick (Patrician Brothers) in 1973. It is registered as The Educational Society of St. James` School, and this institution is managed by the Brothers and assisted by the Sisters of Notre Dame Academy, Patna
The campus is located beside the Army Cantonment in Binnaguri. St. Patrick's School, Binnaguri and NIOS/IGNOU are located adjacently. The expansive campus, including large sports grounds, basketball courts, auditorium and a greenery filled atmosphere are a rarity among schools in the region. It also has two modern computer labs.
The students of the school are nicknamed "Jamesonians", and a school magazine by the name "The Jamesonian" is also published. The students are divided into four groups -"Houses"- Gandhi(Green), Naidu(Red), Shastri(Yellow) and Tagore(Blue), who compete against each other in various fields, including sports, dance, drama, etc. To ensure an all round development, extra-curricular activities form a major part of the school year.
