The Springfield Police Department is the law enforcement agency responsible for the city of Springfield, Illinois. As of August 2015 the city started to switch over from Ford Crown Victorias to Ford Explorers. The agency is also in the process of changing car logos. The Springfield Police Department has 6 divisions: Hostage Negotiation Team, Emergency Response Team, Mobile Field Force Team, Honors Guard, Boat Patrol, and Crisis Intervention Team.

The agency has a school safety division to keep schools safe and act as resource officers. Kids in 1st grade are told about gun and drug safety.

Since the establishment of the Springfield Police Department, 10 officers have died in the line of duty.
