Spartaeus is a spider genus of the Salticidae family (jumping spiders). Fourteen accepted species are included in to the genus.
The genus was renamed from Boethus in 1984 because the name was found to be preoccupied.
The members of the genus build large sheet webs on tree trunks to capture prey, mostly moths. When walking, these spiders wave their palps and legs in an unusual way.
