South Oldham High School is located in Crestwood, Kentucky and serves pupils in 9th-12th grade. The school's principal is Jeff Griffin. Griffin was elected by the SBDM Council as South Oldham's new principal after Dorenda Neihof resigned and took over Oldham County Schools Chief Operating Officer. The school's mascot is the Dragon, which is green to reflect the school colors of green and gray, as well as navy and white for accent colors. South Oldham opened in 1989 because Oldham County High School had become overcrowded.

SOHS was included in the 2009 Silver Award list of US News & World Report.

SOHS made the top 1500 (number 753) high schools on Newsweek magazine's 2009 list of the top US high schools. This ranking put them in the top 6% of the public high schools in the nation.

South Oldham High School was named as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence 13 years ago.

SOHS met 10 of 10 target goals in the 2008 Yearly Progress Report for "No Child Left Behind".

In 2010, the journalism program at SOHS was awarded Grand Champion at the yearly Kentucky High School Journalism Association (KHSJA) convention for the second year in a row. The yearbook (The Draconium), the newspaper (The Dragon's Tale) and the broadcast journalism classes all took first place in the AAA division that year. This makes SOHS's journalism program the best high school journalism program in the state of Kentucky. The 2010 contest marked SOHS' fourth Grand Champion award in five years (2006, 2007, and 2009).
