South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation


The South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC) is a not-for-profit association of national computer professional associations of the Asia-Pacific region. SEARCC is a forum of national Information Technology professional societies in the Asia Pacific region.The Charter and Constitution of SEARCC was signed in Singapore on the 28th February 1978. Six national societies from the region, the Hong Kong Computer Society, Indonesian Computer Society, Malaysian National Computer Confederation, Philippines Computer Society, Singapore Computer Society and Computer Association of Thailand were the founding signatories.

SEARCC is a member of IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing). IFIP is the International organization for national societies working in the field of information technology. It is a non-governmental, non-profit organization with offices in Laxenburg, Austria. IFIP was established in 1960 under the auspices of UNESCO.

Its members since the inception are:

SEARCC also runs the annual International Schools' Software Competition, a teams programming competition, normally contested by winning teams from the country's national programming competitions.

The SEARCC organisation is led by Yohan Ramasundara as the Secretary-General and Nick Tate as the President.

The International Awards Program was introduced by SEARCC to recognise and reward outstanding ICT achievers in the Asia-Pacific region. Kumar Parakala was named as the International Digital and ICT Professional of the Year Award for 2016 at the Digital Disruptors Awards in Sydney.
