Sorin Grindeanu (born 5 December 1973) is a Romanian politician who currently serves as Prime Minister.
Grindeanu was a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 2012 until the June 2016 local election, when he became president of the Timiș County Council.
A member of the Social Democratic Party, he was nominated by the leader of the party, Liviu Dragnea, on 28 December 2016 to become the next Prime Minister of Romania. Two days later, President Klaus Iohannis officially appointed him as the Prime Minister-designate. He assumed office on 4 January 2017. He was also Minister for Communications under the fourth cabinet of Victor Ponta, between 17 December 2014 and 17 November 2015.
