The Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) is an affiliate of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Its 10 member institutions are located in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
The conference has a rich basketball tradition. Member schools have won the men's NAIA tournament 10 times. Member Oklahoma Baptist won in 1966, before the formation of the SAC, and in 2010, Oklahoma City won in 1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2007, and 2008, USAO won in 2002 and John Brown in 2005. Member schools have won the women's NAIA tournament 12 times. Southern Nazarene has won 7 times, in 1989, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2003, and 2004, and Oklahoma City has won 5 times, in 1988, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002.
