For the 2006-2007 school year Somers had a graduation rate of 100% with 97% receiving a regents diploma and 61% receiving a regents diploma with advanced designation. Of graduating students: 77% enrolled in a 4-year college, 18% enrolled in a 2-year college, 5% became employed full-time, and less than 1% joined the military.

In 2008, Alexander Saeboe won 2nd place in the team competition at the prestigious Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology.

Somers High School has an athletics program with many sports represented. Its mascot, an elephant, and the teams' nickname, the Tuskers, are to honor the town of Somers being known for hosting the first American circus.

The baseball team had won only one league title, in 1972, until 2000 when the school won its second league title and eventually losing 2-1 to Harrison in the Section 1 Class B Semi-Finals. The baseball team would again win the league title the following year in 2001. In 2005, the team made the sectional playoffs defeating Pearl River in the opening round. The team would lose in the Class A Section 1 Quarterfinals to Nyack, New York. In 2007 the team won the Class A title. The team followed up with another Sectional title in 2008 but both seasons would end in the first round of the NY State Class A playoffs. In 2009 they won the Section 1 Class A crown.

In 2007 Rob Sanzillo, a Somers High School graduate (class of 2003), was drafted in by the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Tuskers were crowned state champions in 2016. This team's defense was stellar throughout the state tournament. Their explosive offense could score on any given play. They beat Arch rival Yorktown (45-6) to avenge their only loss of the season to win the NY state section 1 title. Next up was Section 9 power Cornwall which the Tuskers soundly defeated 28-7 (this victory avenged earlier state tournament losses). And then Somers soundly defeated the Capital Region perennial powerhouse Burnt Hills 48-24, in the state semifinals. They finished their magical run by beating previously undefeated and #1 ranked Greece Athena by the score of 25-17 at the Syracuse Orange Dome, where they were crowned 2016 New York State Champions. The Tuskers were an impressive 7-0 in the playoffs to take home the New York State title. http://www.maxpreps.com/m/team/schedule.aspx?schoolid=8d65959a-1669-4515-a9b9-e6abbbe717dc&ssid=c81b47ee-f434-456f-8f6e-fee79c115904
