Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts of Scotland


The Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts of Scotland is a professional association of solicitors in Scotland representing those lawyers who practice in and around the College of Justice. The College of Justice comprises Scotland's two supreme courts: the Court of Session and the High Court of Justiciary.

The Society is represented on the Court of Session Rules Council and on the Joint Committee of Legal Societies, and regularly sponsors members in seeking election to the Council of the Law Society of Scotland.

Members use the abbreviation SSC after their names.

The Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts of Scotland, (SSC Society), was founded in 1784 and incorporated by Royal Charter has, and continues to play a central role in the life and work of the Courts of Scotland and the legal profession generally. For over 200 years, it has represented the interests of its members and assisted in upholding the integrity of Scots law.
