Snertingdal is a former municipality in Oppland county, Norway.
It was created by a split from Biri on January 1, 1910. At that time Snertingdal had a population of 2,028.
On 1 January 1964 Snertingdal was incorporated into Gjøvik, along with Biri and Vardal. Prior to the merger Snertingdal had a population of 2,471.
The Norse form of the name was Snartheimsdalr. The dalr m ('dale, valley') is named after the old farm (and churchsite) Snartheimr. The first element in this name is maybe an old rivername, the last element is heimr.
Until 1918 the name was written "Snertingdalen".
