Sleepycat License (sometimes referred to as Berkeley Database License or the Sleepycat Public License) is an OSI-approved open source license used by Oracle Corporation for the open-source editions of Berkeley DB, Berkeley DB Java Edition and Berkeley DB XML embedded database products older than version 6.0.20. (Starting with version 6.0.20, the open-source editions are instead licensed under the GNU AGPL v3.)
This open source license is a strong form of copyleft because it requires you to provide a way to obtain the source code for the software which uses Berkeley DB as well as the original source code of Berkeley DB, the only alternative is to pay the copyright holder for a commercial use license.
Berkeley DB continues to be dual licensing, open source or commercial. The open source license has changed from the (proprietary) Sleepycat license to the (industry standard) AGPL.

The source code must either be included in the distribution or be available for no more than the cost of distribution plus a nominal fee, and must be freely redistributable under reasonable conditions. For an executable file, complete source code means the source code for all modules it contains. It does not include source code for modules or files that typically accompany the major components of the operating system on which the executable file runs.
