Kim Sung-won (Hangul: 김성원; Korean: 슬리피; born February 21, 1984), better known by the stage name Sleepy, is a South Korean rapper and leader of the hip-hop duo Untouchable, that officially debuted on October 10, 2008 under TS Entertainment. He became a household name after joining reality TV shows like Real Men, I Live Alone, Law of the Jungle, and We Got Married with Lee Guk-joo as his pretend wife. His popularity further rose after his TV guestings on several variety shows because of his noticeable comedic acts.
Pre-debut: He graduated from Kyunghee University, Department of Theater and Film. Before his debut, he worked as a bartender, rapper, and DJ for a club. His stage name, Sleepy, is his actual nickname, which his friends have referred to him for a long time. He admitted on several interviews that his favorite past time is sleeping that's why he's called Sleepy.
Debut: Sleepy made his official debut as a member of Untouchable on October 10, 2008 with their single "It's Okay" feat. Hwayobi. They released their first full album, "Quiet Storm" on January 8, 2009. Their single, "Tell Me Why" also became an online hit chart topper, followed by their hit song "Oh", which was featured in their mini album "Untouchable", released June 9, 2009.
Military Enlistment: On August 2, 2011, Sleepy voluntarily enlisted himself to mandatory military service, together with fellow rapper D.Action at the training camp in Uijeongbu. After the basic military training, Sleepy was later transported to the post in Dongducheon where he became part of the military band. Both Sleepy and D.Action were discharged on April 28, 2013. It was later revealed on social media that Sleepy became close friends with Kim Jae-wook and Rain (Jung Ji-hoon) while spending military service together in 2011. Kim Jae-wook posted a photo of them, having a meals together, through his SNS in June 2016 while Rain invited Sleepy and Kim Jae-wook over for dinner while broadcasting Rain: V-Live in January 2017.
