Singer 2017 is the first season of Chinese television series Singer, a rebranded version of I Am a Singer. It is aired from January 21 to April 22, 2017 on Hunan Television. Due to the banning of Korean-related branding and artists, the show was renamed, and no competing singers also double as MCs, with hosting duties done by the singers' music partners.

Singer2017 is divided into five rounds, each round divided into two stages. 8 singers participate in the first stage of each round, while 7 participate in the second stage. In every stage, 500 members of the audience vote for the top three singers they feel perform the best during the round. During episode 1, there are initially 8 singers competing, the one who is ranked last is eliminated; during episode 2, the singer who is last according to overall ranking is eliminated.
Episode 3 is 2nd complement round, and will have 2 singers joining the competition. The first challenge singer is going to perform with the 6 singers of 1st round competitors, if his or her challenge results in success, he or she can still continue perform, the last of the competition will be eliminated, at this time the line-up of singers of fourth episode are the 5 singer of 1st round competitors, the first challenge success singer and the first singer who is going to fill the seat, if challenge failure, challenge singer will be eliminated, the line-up of 6 online singers will not change until the fourth episode with the first singer who fill the seat to compete. In episode 5, the line-up of 7 singers no matter are the first singer who fill the seat, the 6 singers of 1st round competitors or the first singer who fill the seat, the first challenge success singer and the 5 singers of 1st round competitors, each singer has the fourth and fifth episode's (2nd qualifying round and 2nd knockout round) results, the lowest percentage of votes after adding up 2 episodes will be eliminated out of 7 line-up. In episode 5, the eliminated singer might are one of the 1st round competitors or the first challenge success singer or the first singer who fill the seat. At this time the pass of the 6 singers have more possibility. The following rules of the competitions base on episode 3, 4 and 5 cycle (Episode 6 is 2nd challenge round, the second challenge singer will compete with the 6 online singers).
In subsequent rounds, two more singers join the competition, one to challenge and one to fill the seat (who has previously participated in any of the previous I Am a Singer seasons). In each round, the challenge singer has to make it to the top four in order to succeed, eliminating the lowest ranked singer in the process, otherwise, if he or she is ranked among the bottom half, he or she will be eliminated.
