Simon Dean Spencer (born 10 September 1976) is an English former professional football Midfielder. He began his career at Tottenham Hotspur and later moved to Brentford, where he made one appearance in the Football League. He represented England U16 and U18 at international level.
Spencer began his career in the academy at Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. He made his only senior Spurs appearance in a humiliating 8–0 UEFA Intertoto Cup group stage defeat to 1. FC Köln on 22 July 1995. He departed the club at the end of the 1996–97 season.
Spencer was offered a three-month trial at Division Two side Brentford during the 1997–98 pre-season and was awarded a one-year contract on 1 August 1997. He was joined at the club by former Tottenham youth teammates Leon Townley and Simon Wormull. Spencer made his debut in a 3–0 opening day defeat to Millwall and was brought off for Ryan Denys at half time by manager Eddie May. He completed his first 90 minutes for the club in the following game, a League Cup first round shootout win over Shrewsbury Town. It proved to be his final appearance for the club and he failed to feature in a first team squad again. Spencer (along with Stuart Myall, Tamer Fernandes and Joe Omigie) departed the club in January 1998, having negotiated a settlement on his contract.
