Simon Home Kidston (born September 1967) is a Geneva-based British classic car dealer, commentator and car collector. He is the nephew of Glen Kidston, one of the "Bentley Boys", and the son of Commander Home Kidston, a car enthusiast and occasional racing driver.
Simon Kidston was born in September 1967, the son of Commander Home Kidston, a car enthusiast, who owned and raced cars including Bentley, Bugatti and Mercedes-Benz. His uncle was Glen Kidston, the record-breaking aviator and motor racing driver. His cousin is the fashion designer and businesswoman Cath Kidston. He grew up near Siena, Italy and was educated in Switzerland, including Aiglon College from 1981 to 1985.
Kidston started his career in 1988, working for Douglas Jamieson at Coys of Kensington. Later, the classic car auctioneers Brooks asked him to start a new European division. They wanted this to be based in Clapham, London, but he persuaded them that Geneva would be more appropriate. In 2005, he was president of Bonhams Europe.
In 2006, he founded Kidston SA in Geneva.
He is the commentator on the Mille Miglia rally.
Kidston lives in Geneva with his wife Rosie, and their two children. He is "fluent in several languages".
He owns "one of his father’s last motoring acquisitions", a 1973 Porsche Carrera RS, which he calls "the last thing I would ever sell", as well as a Lamborghini Miura SV, which was the last SV built by Lamborghini. Kidston also owns a Monteverdi 375/4 High Speed, built in the 1970s for the Qatari royal family.
Kidston's "dream three-car garage" would be a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, a Ferrari 250 LM and a Bugatti Royale.
