Siddiqui

Siddiqui is a family name or surname. Siddiqui means The Truthful in Arabic. The Siddiqui surname is found among a number of ethnic groups and communities after its spread from Middle East and Africa to Central Asia and South Asia. The title "Siddiq" (veracious) was given to the first Muslim Caliph (one of the Rashidun, or "Rightly guided" Caliphs) Abu Bakr by the Islamic Prophet Mohammad, and some Siddiquis are descendants of him. Siddiqui is sometimes also rendered as Siddiqi, Sediqi, Siddique, Siddiquee, Siddighi, Seddighi, Sidiki, Siddiki, or Siddiquie.

((Peerzada is a surname used by Siddiqui's as many of the Pir were from this Lineage and Sufi Order.)

Siddiqui is cognate with the Hebrew name Tsaddik which means righteous.
