Shuvagoto Hom Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi male cricketer. A right-handed batsman who represents Dhaka Division in first-class and list A cricket and Rajshahi Division in twenty20 matches. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Bangladesh in 2011 against Zimbabwe at Harare. He made his Test match debut against the West Indies in September 2014. He made his Twenty20 International debut for Bangladesh against Zimbabwe on 15 January 2016.

Born on November 11, 1986, Shuvagata is a both handed batsman who also bowls regular Right-arm offbreak. Born in Mymensing, Shuvagata is one of the several Bangladesh players to emerge from smaller towns. He is known for his quick scoring ability at the lower order and an ability to play aggressive knocks. He now represents the Dhaka division in the premier league.

Shuvagata played for many years in the minor leagues before a talent scout brought him to play in Dhaka. He represented Dhaka's first division side, Cricket Coaching School and played as a No. 3 batsman. He was instrumental in making sure that his club was promoted to the premier league in Dhaka.

Shuvagata played some fine knocks that brought him into the reckoning for the national squad. He was named in the provisional squad of 30 players for the 2011 World Cup. Shuvagata was selected for the tour of Zimbabwe after the WC and has acquitted himself well with some handy contributions. He scored 70 runs in 3 matches against them and played one other game against West Indies before being dropped. Since then he has been sidelined and has been overlooked even after some good performances in first class cricket.

In recent times, he is a regular face in Bangladesh Test team. Although Shuvagata established himself as a heavyweight player in domestic side, he is consistently a poor performer in the international level . In his 8 test match, he scored only 244 runs in 11 innings with an average of 22.18 and made only one half-century till now. With ball, he took 8 wickets with average of 63.25 in a good economy rate of 3.58. As a selectors-favourite, Shuvagata continues to reside in the test team despite of his poor performance. Bangladesh cricket fans always wonders how he could save his position in the squade and somtimes even make playing eleven while performer like Nasir Hussine is often used to carry water-bottle and towels as twelfth man. Although team selectors claimed him as a bowling alrounder and some cricket pundits say his offspin is remarkable, Shuvagata claims himself as a batting alrounder and his claim is supported by his 40+ batting average in domestic cricket.
