Shivnarayanpur


Shivnarayanpur also known as Mathurapur is a village in the Pirpainti block of Bhagalpur district of Bihar, India. It is one of the two villages credited as a single census town Madhura Siwanpur, the other being Mathurapur. As of 2001, the total population was 1054.

Traditionally, the village is known as Mathurapur. The name Shivnarayanpur came into being due to a goof up in naming of the railway station. It is also one of the biggest and oldest mandis for agriculture produce (mainly vegetables, pulses and jagrery) in Bihar. It is one of the biggest producer of Mango and Chili. In recent times the area has come up with vast acreage of mango cultivation and langra mangoes from here have a name and are much sought after in as far off markets as Kolkata and Bangladesh. Vikramshila vishwavidalya is situated near shivnarayanpur which is a national heritage maintained by archeological survey of India.the ganga ghat known as bateishwernath is also situation near this village.

A Food park is coming near the village under the MFPI scheme for which the government of Bihar has allocated 80 acres of land out of the 1600 acres acquired for an industrial growth centre.
