Shirley Hodgson

Shirley Victoria Hodgson FRCP FRSB (née Penrose, born 22 February 1945) is a British geneticist. She is Professor of Cancer Genetics at St George's, University of London.

She is daughter of Lionel Penrose and his first wife Margaret Leathes, and the granddaughter of the physiologist John Beresford Leathes. She has three older brothers, Oliver, Sir Roger and Jonathan Penrose. She married Humphrey Hodgson in 1971.

She is the author of "A Practical Guide to Human Cancer Genetics", "Inherited Susceptibility to Cancer: Clinical, Predictive and Ethical Perspectives" (1998), "Familial Breast and Ovarian Cancer" and many academic papers.

She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology.
