Shin Dong-wook (born Shin Hwa-shik on September 14, 1982) is a South Korean actor. He is best known for his leading roles in Soulmate and Cloud Stairs (both in 2006), and his supporting role in War of Money (2007). Shin has been out of the public eye since 2011, when he was discharged early from mandatory military service upon diagnosis of a rare condition, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), a chronic disease that causes extreme bouts of pain without a known cause or cure.
