Sheriff of Dumbarton

The Sheriff of Dumbarton was historically the royal official responsible for enforcing law and order in Dumbarton, Scotland and bringing criminals to justice. It became known as the Sheriff of Dumbarton & Bute in 1854, the Sheriff of Stirling & Dumbarton in 1871, the Sheriff of Stirling, Dumbarton & Clackmannan in 1881 and Sheriff of Stirling, Dumbarton & Clackmannan in 1975.
