Sergey Aleksandrovich Musaelyan (Russian: Сергей Александрович Мусаелян; born November 23, 1950, in Moscow) - Soviet and Russian pianist.

Sergey Musaelyan — Soviet and Russian pianist, was born in Moscow on November 23, 1950.

Father — Aleksander Mesaelyan, mining engineer, took part in the construction of the first Moscow metro. Mother — Eleonor Musaelyan (née Balayan), Honored Worker of Culture of Russian SFSR, studied by Konstantin Igumnov and Alexander Goedicke in the Moscow Conservatory, famous teacher, worked at the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory.

The first piano lessons Sergey got from his mother Eleonor Musaelyan. In 1958 he was admitted to the Central Music School of the Moscow Conservatory and studied with A.Sumbatyan, T.Bobovitch, E.Musaelyan and E.Timakin. After studying in the Central Music School Sergey was admitted to the Moscow Conservatory. He was studying first by G.Axelrod and then by famous teacher and pianist, People's Artist of the USSR, Professor Y.Flier. After Conservatory he entered the graduate school Gnessin Institute and was studied by Professor B.Berlin.

In 1976, Sergey Musaelyan takes part in the Vianna da Motta International Music Competition in Lisbon.

Since 1976 he works in Mosconcert and gives concerts across the USSR.

In 1988 Sviatoslav Richter was interested in Sergey Musaelyan's career. Initially, Richter in his diaries gave Sergeу quite contradictory characteristics. However, Richter began to support Sergey and thanks to his help the pianist started to give concerts outside the Soviet Union.
