Scarrington


Coordinates: 52°57′57″N 0°54′25″W / 52.965834°N 0.906966°W / 52.965834; -0.906966 Scarrington is a civil parish and village in the Rushcliffe borough of Nottinghamshire, adjacent to Bingham, Car Colston, Hawksworth, Orston and Aslockton. The parish, with a population in 2011 of 183 and an area of 973 acres (394 ha), lies at Ordnance Survey grid reference SK7341, in the undulating farmland of the Vale of Belvoir, some 2 miles (3.2 km) from the town of Bingham and from the stretch of the Fosse Way (A46) between Newark and Leicester. It is skirted by the A52 road between Nottingham and Grantham. The nearest railway station is at Aslockton.

Most local government functions are performed by Rushcliffe Borough Council. The borough election results on 7 May 2015 confirmed Conservative control. Scarrington lies in Bingham East ward, which is represented by George Davidson (Independent). Scarrington's population qualifies it only for a twice-yearly Parish Meeting, not a Parish Council.
