Scarborough General Hospital

Scarborough General Hospital is an NHS district general hospital in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It is run by the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The proceeds from the sale in 1931 of a former hospital in Spring Hill, and a local fundraising imitative, contributed to the financing of the building of the hospital.

The town's other medical establishment is Cross Lane Hospital, which is a 'hub' for mental health issues. In 2011, £10.4 million was spent on the refurbishment of the Ayckbourn Suite at the hospital.

There have been many former smaller hospitals in the history of the town, some relatively recently closed hospitals include, St Thomas's, Belvedere Private Hospital, and St Mary's (which occasionally is the title wrongly attributed to Scarborough General).

On 1 July 2012 it merged with York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

A new ward - called Lilac ward - was opened in March 2015.
