Santhosh Pandit, the self-declared "superstar" of Malayalam cinema (India), handles almost all departments of filmmaking including the roles of director, script writer, music composer, lyricist, singer, choreographer, editor and several others. Though his films have received severe criticism over the years, he remains an internet celebrity who is unfazed by the harsh comments.

The Deccan Chronicle reported that on one of the Saturdays in November 2011, Pandit was number 2 on Google trends and that the searches had "crested on October 21, the day when his debut movie Krishnanum Radhayum was released and it quickly got damned by film pundits".

Pandit was born in Nooranadu village and was brought up in Kozhikode city. Appunni Pandit wanted his son to be a civil engineer like him. The astrologer could not foresee what stars had lined up for his son. Santosh Pandit knew he was not meant to spend his life building roads and bridges. Even though he joined the public works department after the death of his father, he followed his own interests. He pursued MA degrees in Hindi and pshychology, a degree in academic law and a diploma in civil civil engineering apart from a clutch of certificate courses in computer application, software development and computer hardware. He also trained himself in a variety of stuff from typewriting and stenography to video editing and computer graphics. He divorced. He has a son, Nav jyoth

Santhosh Pandit's first movie, Krishnanum Radhayum, released on 21 October 2011, became an unexpected crowd puller and saw success in theaters. Some critics attribute the moderate success of the film to the general curiosity after the unprecedented harassment and negative comments posted on the YouTube clips related to the songs in the film. Pandit is credited as an actor, director, script-writer, music director, lyric writer, editor and playback singer in the film and he stands a chance for entering record books for the maximum credits for a single person in a released film. His second film was, "Superstar Santhosh Pandit", where he again handled all the major departments in production. Unlike his first movie, his second movie was a disaster in the box-office and with public.

Pandit appeared in the 2013–2014 Malayalee House program. The hosts of the show decided to hold a public poll for eviction of housemates from the 5th week onward. Pandit, was eliminated in the 4th week by the housemates. The public support suggested that Santhosh is perhaps better than some of the other socially respected participants who have been exposed through the show. Later the makers of the show admitted that evicting Santhosh was a mistake. Due to a social media campaign, Pandit was returned to the show as a wild-card entry on 7 June 2013. On 19 July 2013 Pandit was again evicted from the show.
