Sandhurst to Owlsmoor Bogs and Heaths


Sandhurst to Owlsmoor Bogs and Heaths is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) based in Berkshire between Crowthorne, Owlsmoor, Little Sandhurst and Sandhurst. Part of the site is a nature reserve called Wildmoor Heath which is managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Naturalists Trust.

The site is 85.8 hectares (212 acres) hectares in size, with the Wildmoor Heath nature reserve being about 42 acres (17 ha) acres of the site. The site is best described as a lowland Dwarf shrub heath. Wildmoor Heath is situated on a slope and features wet and dry lowland heath and valley bog, plus pine and broadleaved woodland.

In 1975 the site was designated a site of special scientific interest (SSSI). Wildmoor Heath nature reserve was formed in 1998 by combining together land at Edgbarrow Woods, Owlsmoor Bog, and Wildmoor Bottom.
