Safi (given name)

Safi (Arabic: صافي‎‎) is a masculine name of Arabic origin meaning "pure." It is often employed by Afghans as a "last name" to refer to their tribal lineage within the Safi tribe, a Gharghasht sub-tribe based in north-eastern Afghanistan and the Tribal Areas of Pakistan such as Mohmand and Bajaur Agency. Feminine forms are Safa, Safia, Saphia, Safiyyah.
