Ryo Sanada (真田 遼 Sanada Ryō) is the unofficial leader of the Ronin Warriors who is often accompanied by the large white tiger, White Blaze (白炎 Byakuen). Known to be brash and impulsive at times, he is nonetheless good-hearted and fiercely loyal. A tenacious warrior, Ryo was the first of the five ronin to engage the Evil Dynasty's force invading Shinjuku and the first to be rescued by Mia and Ully after their initial siege on Talpa's castle. Though they were able to regroup and defeat Talpa, the Evil Dynasty resurfaced and captured Ronins Sage, Kento and Sai, leaving himself and Rowen. Together with Mia and Ully, they would then launch an audacious campaign into the Nether Realm to free their fellow warriors, ultimately vanquishing Talpa in one final battle. Ryo would then confront other villains with the other Ronin including the warrior of the Black Inferno Armor and the revenant Suzunagi. He was last seen in new armor, choosing to continue his role as a Ronin Warrior. Ryo as Warrior of Flames (Honō no Senshi - 炎の戦士). In OVA, Jin as Righteousness.
Using the virtue of Jin (仁 benevolence), Ryo can summon the red Armor of Wildfire (烈火の鎧 Rekka no Yoroi) to become Ryo of the Wildfire (烈火の遼 Rekka no Ryō). This armor draws power from heat and Fire and armed with a pair of katana called the Swords of Wildfire (烈火剣 Rekkaken, lit. Wildfire Swords). These swords can connect at the kashira to form a double-bladed sword style weapon from which Ryo unleashes his finishing move, the "Flare Up Now" (双炎斬 Sōenzan, lit. Twin Flame Cut), a giant, fiery shock wave. Ryo later acquires the white Armor of Inferno (白い輝煌帝 Shiroi Kikotei, lit. White Sun Emperor), which requires the energies of four additional armors to summon. This armor's tremendous power was too great to harness until Ryo gained the twin Swords of Fervor (剛烈剣 Gōretsuken, lit. Strong Violent Swords) by defeating Lord Sabrestryke. Together, Ryo can unleash the finishing move, Rage of Inferno (超弾動閃煌斬 Chōdandō Senkōzan, lit. Ultra-Ballistic Flash Cut) which shoots rays of flame from the swords' blade. After a climatic battle with Mukala and the Black Inferno Armor, the White Inferno and Wildfire armors were destroyed, though Ryo would later acquire new armor from the spirit Suzunagi. The nature and abilities of this new armor have been left undiscovered.
