Ryan Bennett (August 20, 1970 – May 31, 2006) was a sportscaster and co-founder of the popular mixed martial arts news website, MMAWeekly.com.

He was the fourth of six children born to Richard and Donna Bennett. His sports career began at age 5 when he first played T-ball. At age 8, his family moved to Amherst, New Hampshire, where he became an all-star pitcher on his 10-year-old baseball team.

He moved back to Utah with his family in 1982, and was a member of the state champion cross country team in 1985-86 for Bonneville High School in Washington Terrace, Utah. He also was a region champion tennis player for Bonneville, earning the region title with partner Tom Gardner in 1987. Ryan was called to be a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in 1989, where he served in the Saint Louis Missouri Mission for two years. Ryan married Tonya in the Bountiful Utah Temple in 1998, after a four-year courtship. They had four children. Tonya remarried in 2007.

Ryan started his broadcasting career as a seventeen-year-old freshman at Weber State University. Unlike other college radio stations which offer classical music, and NPR type programming, Weber State offered a more modern, hip hop-based format. Ryan took the name "The Hitman" as his on air personality. Throughout his time at Weber State, Ryan also hosted a sports talk show, broadcast Weber State football and basketball games, as well as high school tournament games.

A weekly college sports show at KWCR carved out a loyal niche cy covering professional wrestling. Through vague branding and a helpful P.R. Directors at the WWF and WCW. The Saturday morning show landed regular wrestling guests like "Diamond" Dallas Page, Harlem Heat and "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart. The show transformed to the "X-Treme Sports Network" and leveraged its popularity into a live on-site broadcast in San Francisco at Planet Hollywood.
