Two tourists trespassing on the sea wall near Dawlish, Devon are involved in a near miss with a First Great Western High Speed Train. Railway trespassers put themselves at risk of being injured or killed by oncoming trains, and also put passengers and crew on board the trains at risk of injury as well.

Route crime is a phrase used by the British rail industry to denote trespass and vandalism. It is believed to be the cause of most deaths to members of the public on the railways in Britain. Most Route Crime-related deaths are suicides with the rest being trespass-related.
