Rolesville is a town and suburb in northeastern Wake County, North Carolina, United States, just outside the capital city of Raleigh. It is the second oldest town in Wake County and has been one of the fastest growing towns in the state of North Carolina for the past several years. The population was 6,074 in 2015.
Rolesville was incorporated on January 18, 1837, by the North Carolina Legislature. In 2012, the town celebrated its 175th anniversary.
Rolesville began as a small farming community. Many of the original family tracts are still cultivated today. Most of the large family farms in the heart of Rolesville, however, have been turned into residential or commercial subdivisions, allowing Rolesville to become one of the top three fastest growing communities in North Carolina every year since 2005. Rolesville was named after William H. Roles, a local land owner, merchant, cotton broker, cotton gin owner, and postmaster.
Three Rolesville properties are listed on the National Register of Historic Places: the Dr. Lawrence Branch Young House, the Green-Hartsfield House and the Heartsfield-Perry Farm.
Rolesville is located at 35°55′26″N 78°27′40″W / 35.923873°N 78.461029°W.
