Robert Ellis Silberstein (also known as Bobby Ellis) is an American music executive and businessman. During his career he managed many musicians including Billy Preston, Diana Ross, Rufus, Meat Loaf and Status Quo.
Bob was born into a wealthy family of Jewish garment manufacturers in Elberon, N.J. He graduated from West Virginia University and tried teaching. After an argument with his principal he quit and moved to California.
Silberstein was married to Diana Ross for 6 years in the 1970s. They have two children together; Tracee Ellis Ross, and Chudney Ross. He is also close to his ex-stepdaughter, Rhonda Ross, who was born several months after Silberstein and Ross married, but whose biological father is Motown founder Berry Gordy. Bob raised Rhonda as his very own daughter and they remain close today.
Silberstein and Ross divorced in 1977.
In the 1970s Bob managed Diana Ross, the Rolling Stones Ronnie Wood,and Chaka Khan whom he discovered while managing Rufus.
