Rob Goldstone

Robert Goldstone (born 3 December 1960) is an English publicist and former tabloid journalist, who gained international visibility through his activities in the 2016 US Presidential election.

He was born in Whitefield, Bury, Greater Manchester, where his father was a founding member of the Hillock Hebrew Congregation. At the age of 7 he was enrolled in Delamere Forest School in Cheshire. Later he attended Heys Boys’ County Secondary School in Prestwich. He left school at age 16 to become a trainee sports reporter at the Jewish Gazette. He continued working as a journalist for the Radcliffe Times, later for the Birmingham Evening Mail, and then in London. Through working in radio journalism, he became a music publicist based in New York City, where he says he handled the public relations for Michael Jackson's 1986 Australian tour. Goldstone currently works via his publicity company Oui 2 Entertainment Ltd, which bills itself as a specialist music public relations company. Its clients include the Miss Universe competition, which was formerly owned by Donald Trump. Oui 2 also manages the career of the Azerbaijani singer-songwriter Emin Agalarov, the son of oligarch Aras Agalarov who hosted Miss Universe 2013 in Moscow. As a result of that event, Goldstone became acquainted with Trump and members of his family.

On June 7, 2016, at the behest of his client Emin Agalarov, Goldstone emailed Donald Trump's son Donald Trump Jr., requesting to schedule a meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya (referred to in Goldstone's email as a "Russian government attorney"). According to Goldstone's email, Agalarov was acting on behalf of the Prosecutor General of Russia, who wanted to "provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information" that would help Donald Trump's campaign and damage the campaign of his rival, Hillary Clinton. The meeting, held June 9, 2016 at Trump Tower in New York City, was also attended by Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and Donald Trump's campaign manager Paul Manafort. Goldstone was also present at the meeting. When the existence of the meeting was revealed in July 2017 it became a major news story, with some sources describing it as evidence of "collusion" between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.
