Rob Canning is a journalist and presenter.

Canning briefly worked with WIN TV in Orange after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a Major in Broadcast Journalism from Charles Sturt University in Bathurst. After completing the degree he was quick to return to his hometown of Sydney.

In 2000, Rob joined Network Ten and at just 22 years old, he became the youngest person to anchor Sports Tonight. Canning has been a regular fill in presenter for Brad McEwan on Sports Tonight and hosted the Friday night edition and 5:30pm weekend editions until the show was axed in September 2011.

In January 2011, Canning was appointed weekend sports presenter on Sydney's Ten Evening News however this bulletin only lasted until September due to poor ratings and the bulletin was once again made national.

In October 2011, Rob was appointed sports presenter on Ten News at Five: Weekend.

Rob has covered a number of memorable Australian and international sporting events taking him from San Francisco with the Red Bull Air Race to France for the Rugby World Cup. Canning has also covered Melbourne's Commonwealth Games in 2006 and on a broader scale regularly reports on a variety of sporting events.

More recently Rob has stepped into a commentary role with Network Ten's coverage of the National Beach Volleyball series and also called all of the action for the 2008 City to Surf.

In November 2012, Canning resigned from Network Ten after 12 years with the network.

Rob has since taken up a role as a Senior Sports producer with the Nine Network.
