The Richie Mann Invitational Golf Tournament is an annual charity event held in Dundee, Cape Breton, with all proceeds going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF). Established in 1997 by Nova Scotia politician Richie Mann, it is now one of the largest single-day charity golf tournaments in Canada.
The Richie Mann Invitational was started as a constituency fundraiser when Mann was Member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly representing Richmond County. When he resigned from politics in 1998 he decided to keep the tournament alive and to dedicate the funds raised to a charitable organization.
The Atlantic Chapter of the CBCF was chosen, out of respect for co-workers, relatives and friends who had suffered or were suffering from the disease. In particular, Mann dedicated the event to Emmie Luther Hiltz, a co-worker who is a breast cancer survivor and who has dedicated a large part of her life to making things easier for other breast cancer victims.
Over the past ten years the Richie Mann Invitational has contributed nearly $500,000 to the Atlantic Chapter of the CBCF and another $12,000 to a cancer patient assistance program.
