Richard Stevenson (New South Wales politician)

Richard Stevenson (1832 – 14 May 1899) was an English-born Australian politician.

He was born at Egham in Surrey, and after working in a printing house arrived in New South Wales in 1851, where he joined the Sydney Morning Herald. He left the Herald in 1861, and around 1862 married Louise Whitehouse at Grafton; they had no children. In 1886 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the member for Wollombi. He represented the seat, generally as a Protectionist, until 1894, when it was abolished and he transferred to Northumberland. He was defeated in 1895 but elected again in 1898. Stevenson died at Putty in 1899.
