Brigadier-General Richard Cunningham (died 1696) was an English Army officer.
Cunningham became major of the Earl of Selkirk's regiment of horse in December 1688. He went on to be colonel of a foot regiment formed from the standing forces in Scotland in 1689 and colonel of the Queen's Own Regiment of Dragoons in December 1690. Promoted to brigadier-general on 1 June 1696, he commanded a cavalry brigade in Holland during the Nine Years' War. He left £2,500 when he died in 1696.
In 1695 he married Grisel, daughter of Archibald Primrose, Lord Carrington.
