Richard Barron is an American women's basketball coach. Since 2011, he has been the head coach of the Maine Black Bears women's basketball team. In April 2016, Barron signed a four-year contract extension ($150,000 per year) with the University of Maine.
Barron was the 2015 America East Coach of the Year. During his time at Maine, the Black Bears began playing home games at the significantly larger off-campus Cross Insurance Center in nearby Bangor.
Prior to coaching at Maine, Barron also was the head coach at Princeton University (2001-2007) and Sewanee: The University of the South.
