Rhys Dean Hoskins (born March 17, 1993) is an American professional baseball first baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Hoskins attended Jesuit High School in Carmichael, California. He then enrolled at California State University, Sacramento, where he played college baseball for the Sacramento State Hornets. The Philadelphia Phillies selected Hoskins in the fifth round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. He spent his first professional season with the Williamsport Crosscutters where he posted a .237 batting average with nine home runs and 40 runs batted in (RBIs). He started 2015 with the Lakewood BlueClaws and was later promoted to the Clearwater Threshers; he posted a combined .319 batting average, 17 home runs and 90 RBIs between the two teams. Hoskins spent 2016 with the Reading Fightin Phils where he batted .281 with 38 home runs and 116 RBI's. He opened the 2017 playing with the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
On August 10, 2017, the Philadelphia Phillies announced that Hoskins was being called up to the major leagues. He made his MLB debut the same day but as a left fielder.
