Revival (often styled as RƎVIVAL) is the upcoming ninth studio album by American rapper Eminem, scheduled for release through Aftermath Entertainment, Shady Records and Interscope Records. Production for the album took place during 2016 to 2017, at several recording studios and was handled by various record producers, including Eminem himself and Dr. Dre.
The album's lead single, "Walk on Water" which features vocals by American singer Beyoncé, was released on November 10, 2017.
Eminem first revealed that he was working on an album when he announced the song "Campaign Speech" on his Twitter in October 2016, writing 'Don't worry I'm working on an album! Here's something meanwhile'. Rumors about the release date started in late 2016, saying the album would be called Success and would be released sometime in January 2017. A fake tracklisting also was leaked at the same time. Some of the rumored collaborations included Adele, Chance the Rapper, Kid Cudi, Vince Staples and The Weeknd. Rumors were sparked again in February and March 2017, when Eminem announced he was headlining three shows in Reading, Glasgow and Leeds. Various news articles said that because he was performing, he would have to release new material to perform, or at least preview, at the festivals.
In June 2017, rumours spiralled again as rapper 2 Chainz posted a photo of Eminem and himself on his Instagram. The post was captioned 'Sooo this jus happened ......#marshalllikestrapmusic'. Later on July 10, 2 Chainz revealed in an interview with DJ Drama that he and Eminem were working on a song together for the latter's upcoming album. He further relayed that the collaboration began when one of Eminem's producers, Denaun Porter, reached out to 2 Chainz, and asked him to re-do a hook and add some ad-libs. Initially, 2 Chainz declined the offer, stating that he prefers to write his own hooks, but eventually acquiesced, and met with Eminem: 2 Chainz said that the final song includes a verse of his.
