Footnotes

The Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) is a federal agency under the United States Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, and is headquartered within the Department of Education in Washington, D.C. It was established to administer portions of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

RSA oversees grant programs — including grants to state vocational rehabilitation agencies — that help individuals with physical or mental disabilities to obtain employment and live more independently through the provision of such supports as counseling, medical and psychological services, job training and other individualized services.

RSA reviews performance of state agencies to ensure that financial matters are conducted in conformance with financial requirements from statutes and regulations, and that disabled youth from ages 14-24 receive services in a timely and adequate fashion. RSA's monitoring guide describes the process used for this monitoring.
