Regine Velasquez, who is also known as Asia's Songbird, was hailed by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry or PARI as the "Best-Selling Female Artist of All Time" in the Philippines. She has sold more than 7 million units in the country and 1.5 million albums in other Asian countries.
Her installment of Covers, Vol. 1 and Covers, Vol. 2 received Platinum status within 3 weeks. Her album Low Key received Gold status within five days of its commercial release and is considered the first to receive the Platinum Record Award in the Philippines for the year 2009.
