Red Sparrow is an upcoming American spy thriller film directed by Francis Lawrence, based on the book Red Sparrow, written by Jason Matthews. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Joel Edgerton, Jeremy Irons, Matthias Schoenaerts and Charlotte Rampling. It is scheduled to be released on March 2, 2018.
A Russian spy (Jennifer Lawrence) falls for a CIA officer (Joel Edgerton) and considers becoming a double agent.
Production started in Budapest on January 5, 2017. Filming commenced in Bratislava, Slovakia on April 25, 2017. Some scenes were shot in the Michaelerplatz in Vienna, Austria on April 29, 2017. On May 3, 2017, Jennifer Lawrence was spotted shooting some scenes at London's Heathrow Airport.
Red Sparrow is scheduled to be released by 20th Century Fox on March 2, 2018.
